| Bulgaria is a country in South-Eastern Europe, which occupies the eastern part of the Balkan Peninsula. It shares borders with Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Macedonia and Romania. The eastern part of Bulgaria is washed by the Black Sea. The capital of Bulgaria is Sofia. The relief of the country is not homogeneous. More than two-thirds of the country is occupied by plains, plateaus, or hilly areas with the heights of up to 600 m. The plateaus and hills form 41% of the territory and the plains - 31%. In Bulgaria, there are almost all types of terrain: lowland areas, plains, hills, mountains of different heights, valleys and deep gorges. From east to west across all the country, is an alternation of high and low landscape. The largest river of Bulgaria is the Danube River. | |
